We at Choice Products know that there are literally thousands of
great ideas created each year by inventors, homeowners, backyard
tinkerers, and other creative minds. We also know that, unfortunately,
the vast majority of these ideas never make it as products in the
marketplace.
To say that it is 'difficult' to get a new idea into the marketplace
is a vast understatement. The obstacles to success of a new product
are often many, varied, and difficult to overcome. Many new products
may seem sound in theory, but prove to be impractical to produce,
either because of process, costs, logistics, or some other reason
that isn't apparent when the product is in the early stages of development.
Choice Products endeavors to eliminate (or at least reduce) some
of these obstacles early in a product's development cycle. Although
we do not claim to be experts in all types of products...we do have
years of experience in analyzing new consumer items. We are not
an 'Invention Submission' company, but rather a 'Product Development'
company, utilizing our experience to work with inventors in addressing
the various steps required to bring a new product to the marketplace.
We want to offer our experience in developing and marketing new
products to help others that may have a great idea for a product,
but lack the knowledge, contacts, capital or experience to take
the next step...or even know what the next step should be.
We offer a FREE initial Product Analysis of your idea or prototype
as a means of helping you decide what the next step should be. We
also can only offer this free analysis for products that fall within
our area of expertise:
• Lawn & garden
• Consumer hardware
• Non-powered consumer tools
Once we complete our Product Analysis we will give you our honest,
professional opinion about the potential of your product or idea.
We will not give you a lot of 'hype' in an attempt to collect a
consultation or marketing fee of any type. We only know one way
to do business...with integrity. Fair and ethical treatment of our
business associates is a primary concern to us. At the appropriate
time, we can furnish references of other inventors that have dealt
with Choice Products.
Please note that we only offer this free service for products or
ideas that meet the following criteria:
• Must be a consumer related product. No commercial or industrial
products will be accepted.
• Must appeal to a 'mass' market. This simply means no niche-items
or specialty products.
• Should be demonstrable. The benefits and features of the
product should be easily shown using visual demonstration.
• Must be new, having never been produced or marketed to the
consumer market. In certain cases, this requirement may be waived,
depending on the circumstances surrounding any previous manufacturing
or marketing efforts. Just because a product failed in early marketing
efforts doesn't mean success isn't possible with a different approach
or with product revisions.
• Must be either patented, or patent-pending in the United
States.
We are flexible in how we structure our agreements. If a product
or idea meets our stringent criteria for development, discussions
could include:
• Exclusive License
• Strategic Alliance
• Joint Venture
• Acquisition
• Inventor License
Our most common approach is to negotiate an Exclusive License for
a product. This allows Choice Products to control and fund virtually
all aspects of a product's development, marketing, and distribution,
while paying an agreed royalty to the inventor. Of course there
is a level of performance or sales activity required from Choice
to maintain the license.
We are a small company and our intent is to remain small. That allows
us to focus on each product in our line. It also allows us to communicate
directly and openly with our partners, while remaining flexible
in how we approach each new idea or product.
Our Services are varied, with emphasis on using our experience and
contacts to bring a product to market. We do not and will not guarantee
a product's success. There are simply too many uncontrollable forces
in the marketplace that can influence the success or failure of
a product. What we do guarantee is a straightforward and ethical
relationship with our partners.
